On Friday 12th of November, 2021, the team of FOUNDATION FOR SOUND MIND AND CRISIS INTERVENTION (FOSMACIN) led by Mrs Blessing Ikpeme, visited GRADON NURSERY AND PRIMARY SCHOOL situated at Atai Essen, Ikot Ekpene L.G.A. to donate about 225 books to their pupils.
It was such a joyful day for the pupils and the school at large as they received the books from the President of the FOSMACIN team, Mrs Blessing Ikpeme. The FOSMACIN team which was represented by:
• Mrs Blessing Ikpeme- President
• Apostle Imoh Akpan- Chaplain/ Prayer coordinator and Representative for Elder
• Mr Akaninyene Bassey- Administrator
• Victor Patrick- Media Lead,
were warmly received by staffs and pupils of the school. After which a brief introduction of members of both parties were made. In the opening remark given by the Proprietor of the school, Mr Iniobong Udofia, who was represented by the School Supervisor in person of Mr , said that the school is really grateful for the kind gesture shown by the foundation towards the pupils of the school. He further addressed that the school had planned to upgrade the books in their library and the books donated by the foundation had gone a long way in solving that problem.
The Chairman of the Advisory Board for FOSMACIN, Elder Ezekiel Umoh, who was represented by Apostle Imoh Akpan, said in his speech that he loves children and a child that reads today is a leader tomorrow. He further stated that the act by the foundation is to contribute their quarter to raise great leaders for tomorrow, people who will come to correct the ills in our nation Nigeria. He also deployed the school to create a system that would engage the pupils positively to ensure that the books are properly utilized by the pupils.
The President of the FOSMACIN group, Mrs Blessing Ikpeme, gave a speech afterwards stating that she appreciates the school for being premium on books and advised that the pupils should be given access to the books. She told the pupils to cultivate the habit of building their minds through reading. She made it clear that the donation won’t have been possible if not for the partnership of BOOKS FOR AFRICA, a company based in the USA, through Mr Mike Essien who is the country’s representative and gave thanks for his effort.
After the speech by the President of the FOSMACIN team, the books were received by the Supervisor for the school and he expressed gratitude on behalf of the school saying, that the kindness shown by the foundation will never be forgotten.
Life is Beautiful Conference
The Life is Beautiful Conference is a mental health awareness program aimed at promoting emotional well being, peak performance and healthy relationships. Since 2008, this conference has produced giants in academics, careers, politics and business.
FOSMACIN provides counseling services to individuals and families who are depressed and troubled. With our helplines we are there for people in distressing situations.
Reading for Sound Mind and Lasting Transformation (RESULT) is a holiday Reading and Character Molding Camping Program for teens and pre-teens.
Scars to Stars
This is a motivational talk show on radio and television. The aim of this Talk Show is to give hope to the hopeless. Instead of running away from life’s challenges, the realization that we are made better by the challenges that we overcome should encourage people to pay the price and overcome such challenges. The slogan of Scars to Stars is ‘Everyone has a Story’. There is nothing new under the sun. If someone did it before, so can you.
King’s Bride Initiative
KBI is a program that targets women in vulnerable situations. It is a mentoring and economic empowerment program for single mothers, young widows, rape victims, school drop-outs and sex workers.
FOSMACIN operates Book Clubs to revive the reading culture in Nigeria. The FOSMACIN Book .Club was inaugurated in February of 2011 with members cutting across different segments of the society. We also have so far established Book Clubs in eleven Secondary Schools in six Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State.
We assist economically disadvantaged students through school by paying their school fees, supplying books and other welfare packages. We also assist the physically challenged persons to pay their rent and help others to set up businesses through our the FOSMACIN Cooperative.
